The year is 1779 and the American Revolution is in full swing. Jamie and Claire Fraser are living on their plantation in North Carolina, trying to stay out of the conflict. But when their home is attacked by Redcoats, they are forced to flee.
The Frasers make their way to Wilmington, where they hope to find passage to Scotland. But the city is overrun with refugees and the Frasers are soon separated. Jamie is captured by the British and Claire is forced to go into hiding.
As the war rages on, Claire and Jamie must find a way to reunite and protect their family. But with the British closing in, their chances of survival seem slim.
